Newydd Housing Association Retrofit Programme

Zing Energy is delivering a large-scale retrofit programme for Newydd Housing Association - upgrading hundreds of homes across South Wales since 2025. The project brings together renewable technology, insulation and property improvement works to create warmer, healthier homes and support long-term decarbonisation goals.

Project overview

Working across occupied homes, we are delivering a package of improvements that includes solar PV with hybrid inverters, air source heat pumps, loft insulation, structural repairs and damp mitigation. Alongside the technical work, the programme also includes full resident liaison and end-to-end delivery, helping ensure the works are practical, well-managed and sensitive to the needs of every single household throughout the project.

Our approach

This project has been shaped around a fabric-first strategy, improving the condition and thermal performance of each property before renewable technologies are specified. That approach helps avoid system oversizing, improves long-term efficiency and supports better outcomes for residents and the client alike. To keep delivery efficient across a multi-property programme, works are being coordinated through batch programming, supported by digital monitoring and cloud-based project management tools.

Compliance and assurance

The works are being delivered against a robust compliance framework, including PAS 2035, PAS 2030, MCS, BBA, TrustMark and CDM requirements. That level of governance is particularly important on complex retrofit programmes, where quality assurance, resident confidence and long-term performance matter as much as installation speed.
